Battery Management System Victron smallBMS NG

The SmallBMS NG is a comprehensive battery management system (BMS) for Victron Lithium NG batteries (not compatible with Lithium Battery Smart batteries). It monitors and protects the batteries by managing charge and load cut-offs and providing early warnings of low battery voltage.

The SmallBMS NG is a simple and cost-effective alternative to the VE.Bus BMS NG for applications that do not require integration with Victron inverters/chargers. It provides essential protection for lithium batteries without the added complexity of VE.Bus communication and is therefore not suitable for use with VE.Bus inverters/chargers such as MultiPlus and Quattro.

Thanks to integrated Bluetooth, it connects directly to all lithium NG batteries in the system, enabling centralized monitoring via VictronConnect. It also receives current and state of charge data directly from the batteries, eliminating the need for a separate SmartShunt.

The lithium NG batteries can be configured in series, parallel or a combination of both and 12 V, 24 V and 48 V systems are supported. A maximum of 50 batteries can be used in 12 V or 24 V banks and 25 batteries in 48 V banks, allowing storage of up to 192 kWh (12 V), 384 kWh (24 V) and 128 kWh (48 V). Multiple Lynx Smart BMS units can be connected in parallel to expand capacity and ensure redundancy.

Key features:

• Load disconnect output: Controls the connection to remotely switch on/off a BatteryProtect, inverter, DC-DC converter or other loads with remote switching function to prevent deep discharge.
• Charging disconnect output: Controls the connection to remotely switch on/off chargers such as the Smart IP43 charger, a Cyrix Li-Charge relay, a Cyrix Li-Cct battery coupler or a BatteryProtect to prevent overvoltages.
• Pre-alarm output: Provides an early warning of low battery voltage before loads are switched off. Can control a relay, LED or audible alarm.
• Remote on/off control: Enables external control of load and charge disconnect outputs.
• LED indicators: Includes a blue LED for Bluetooth status and a red LED for warnings and errors.
